Compleat Golfer began with the launch of the only magazine written entirely by South Africa golfers, for South African golfers, in 1989. Twenty years on, it has evolved beyond the print medium, offering its readers a host of opportunities to engage with the Compleat Golfer brand. The interactive website, www.compleatgolfer.co.za, weekly webletter and newly launched mobile site have all had great success, while Compleat Golfer’s presence on Facebook and Twitter has a dedicated following. The video production team produces web and mobile content, while a full programme of annual golfing events is also on offer.

As industry leaders, Compleat Golfer has launched of a number of ‘firsts’ in South Africa, such as Golf Course Rankings, 5-Star Golf Experience Awards and the Annual Awards Dinner, the ‘Oscars’ of South African golf. Compleat Golfer’s events were born out of staging the annual South African PGA Golf Show. Now in its 13th year, the show has grown into a world-class event, attracting thousands of enthusiastic golfers who come to test all the latest equipment and see what the many golfing brands, estates and services have to offer. In effect, the SA PGA Golf Show is the magazine brought to life for our audience. The 2010 PGA Golf Show will take place at Country Club Johannesburg in mid-February.

Our other flagship event is the Compleat Golfer Annual Awards dinner, held in the same week as the PGA Golf Show. This black-tie gala dinner has become the definitive South African golf awards ceremony, with all key golf industry players, administrators and players in attendance. It is a superb sponsorship and marketing platform and one which, over the 13-year history of the dinner, has attracted some of SA’s finest brands.
