  Content Synopsis

WINE is recognised as an authoritative voice on wine and the wine lifestyle, a multi-media brand that speaks to those with “a taste of good living” through a fun and informative monthly magazine, a vibrant website, an interesting and keenly anticipated weekly webletter, wine-related books, public tasting events and a social media presence that allows WINE to engage its consumers in this space.
Audience

WINE attracts a niche, sought-after audience of high net-worth wine enthusiasts. To quote Yvonne Johnston, CEO of the International Marketing Council: “Wine lovers are usually found at the top end of the social scale. They live an above average lifestyle and are selective about what they buy and read. This market is probably one of the toughest niche markets to reach and influence. They don’t watch TV, nor do they subscribe to the general press. Entry in their world is limited. It is only those titles that match their lifestyle that can break into their world. In this country, WINE Magazine happens to be one of them.” WINE magazine currently has a circulation of 7 962, 155 000 readers, 19 293 unique website users with 44 654 page impressions and 18 240 webletter subscribers. We have 391 Facebook fans and 195 Twitter followers.

The results of our categories tastings are keenly anticipated. We take that one step further, inviting wine lovers to taste of the top-scoring wines in several categories – Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Cap Classique, Bordeaux blends and organic wines – by hosting public tastings led by prominent winemakers.

We have also introduced food and wine evenings, where gourmands can relax over a dinner of fine food paired with wine.

WINE publishes two books a year. ICONS – South Africa’s Best Wines Reviewed showcases the results of the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, widely regarded as one of the most important and prestigious wine competitions on the South African wine calendar. Judging takes place in May and ICONS is published a month later. Copies are distributed free with the June issue of WINE Magazine.

Best Value Wine Guide – SA wines Under R60 has become a dependable reference for enthusiasts who appreciate wines that deliver the best quality at the best possible price. Released just before the festive season every year, the Guide makes it easier for buyers to pick out the real bargains on the market – without compromising on drinking pleasure. Only quality wines below R60 – ranging from super-quaffers to the more serious wines – are included in the guide. Best Value Wine Guide is also included as added value with the magazine.
